Objectives: –
• To train medical doctors who would be capable of providing comprehensive clinical care in obstetrics and gynecology. • To prepare residents to participate in teaching and learning activities for residents themselves, integrated emergency obstetrics and surgery students, medical students and other health science students.• To equip residents in evaluation of evidence and critical appraisal of scientific journals. • To prepare residents for further subspeciality trainings in obstetrics and gynecology. Entry requirements: –
Currently residents are joining the training institutions after residency matching examination and these are the requirements to sit for: –
• Graduate from a recognized university with degree in Doctor of Medicine• Work experience as per the institution’s legislation guidelines• Need to have two recommendation letters from recognized persons or university (one from professional referee & another from academic referee)• Comply with the rules and regulations of graduate program of the university• Comply with the rules and regulations of the national policies of the graduate programs pertaining to medicine• Complete physical and mental health to be determined by the department

The duration of study is four years

First Year:
• Basic science & teaching methods: will be given as a block course for the first three months • General obstetrics: 2 months• Labor ward: 2 months• Outpatient department: 1 month• General gynecology: 2 months• Family planning: 1 month• Vacation: 1 month
Second Year:
• General obstetrics II: 2 months• Teaching methodology: 2 weeks• Labor ward: 2 months• NICU: 1 month• Outpatient department: 2 months• General gynecology II: 2 months• Radiology: 1 month• Research methodology: 2 weeks
• Vacation: 1 monthThird Year:
• General obstetrics III: 3 months• Labor ward: 1 month• Outpatient department: 1 month• General gynecology III: 3 months• Surgery: 1 months• Anesthesia: 1 month• Fistula & uro-gynecology: 1 months• Vacation: 1monthFourth Year:
• High risk pregnancy clinic & referral gynecologic clinic: 2 months• Outpatient department: 1 month • Labor ward: 1month• General gynecology IV: 2 months• General obstetrics IV: 2 months• Gynecology oncology: 1 month• Infertility and reproductive endocrinology clinic: 1 month• Research leaves: 2 weeks• Two- or three-week attachment in gynecology oncology, reproductive endocrinology, minimally invasive surgery & urogynecology.• Vacation: 1 month
